Vita and Creativity
Eddy Schuster born 1964 lives and works with his horses and other animals on a mountain farm high above the municipality of Fresach in Carinthia. His "metal tattoos" are popular all over the world.
Eddy Schuster has a picturesque view over the Drau Valley. As he says himself, he has arrived at his destination after decades on the road. The trained toolmaker has traveled all over Europe, worked as a tattoo artist in Germany, Spain in a finca and now on a mountain farm, says the father of three about his varied life.
Eddy started tattooing at the age of 17. He quickly developed a passion for the profession and, after starting out in Carinthia, opened his first studio in Munich. Further studios followed in Dresden and Frankfurt, and even in the infamous station quarter district in the metropolis on the Main.
"You can only stay there for a while, especially as I love nature, and there was very little of that to be seen there." Thought, done, belongings were sold, a caravan was bought and off he went on the road - without a specific destination - just enjoying the freedom." He eventually settled in Murcia, Spain, but Eddy never really settled down.
"I flew back and forth between Spain and Norway to tattoo."
After his youngest daughter was born, Schuster returned to Germany before his path led him back to Carinthia twelve years ago, where he opened tattoo studios in Villach and St. Veit. After 40 years in the business, he wanted to make a new start. "I sat down and practiced engraving. It's similar to tattooing, only nobody cries". Word quickly spread about his new field of activity and the first Harley customers came to have their bikes engraved. The "Harley tattoo artist" was born. As such, he made it into the international trade press and television crews came to him on the mountain, where he has now lived and worked for several years.
In the meantime, the horse lover has created another business area by engraving stirrups. Thanks to his presence on social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok), customers all over the world have become aware of his extraordinary work - including his most recent elaborately decorated stirrups, including a commission from the US state of Idaho.
